Climbing Kilimanjaro is achievable for anyone, irrespective of age. While most of our clients fall within the 30 and 50-year age bracket, we also welcome participants from the broader spectrum of age groups to join our expeditions.

Very young children and much older people have climbed Kilimanjaro. The minimum age for climbing Kilimanjaro is 10 years old, but it is possible to get special permission for children who have shown exceptional ability. There is no maximum age.

Our youngest client ever was just 6 years old. He and his 8 year old brother made it to the crater rim before they were thwarted by the heavy accumulation of snow. So, the young climber did not summit (and no, he was not carried to the top).

Our oldest client was none other than the world record holder for the oldest person to successfully climb Kilimanjaro— Anne Lorimor. In 2019, at age 89, she broke the record, taking 12 hours to scale the last 5,000 feet to the summit.

We encourage all of our clients to get a comprehensive medical check-up before they climb. For children, it is even more important to make sure their physical development is suitable for such an endeavor. For seniors, a check-up properly evaluates whether fitness level and medical conditions are problematic for high altitude trekking.
